The Crown Chakra also known as Pituitary Gland is situated outside of the body above the crown of the head because it represents liberation from embodiment. Known as the “thousand petal lotus” chakra, it is the centre of enlightenment and our spiritual connection to our higher selves, others, and ultimately, the divine, according to the Chopra Centre. This Chakra vibrates a rich dark purple colour. This Chakra governs the pituitary gland, brain and in fact the entire body.

The psychological functions include a uniting of the lower and higher self. It is the centre of complete liberation from the body and absolute spiritual bliss. It is responsible for the connection with Divine Consciousness.
